This robot was created for the #MicrobitVirtualConcert on Twitter. The robot is controlled by the sound sensor in the micro:bit V2 so that the birds sing along to Ella Fitzgerald's "Blue Skies."
This robot is primarily two-dimensional. Servo motors control the beak and the wing of each robot. I used embroidery to add flower details to the birds.
To make the wings pulse in time, I used a metronome to find the bpm of the song and used rest blocks to control the timing of the wing servos. The movement of each beak is based on the value of the sound sensor, and a timer is used to control which bird is singing. Singing triggers the sound sensor better than a recording, so I recorded the movement of the robot while I was singing "Blue Skies." Then I removed my audio and added in the song to make the video.
